Search for supersymmetry in top final states at CMS
A search for SUSY using the top quark plus missing transverse energy (MET), in a low mass mSUGRA test point is performed. A two–constraints kinematic fit is utilized to extract the top quark, either b-jet the ones that is recognizable or it is not recognizable. It is shown that for point LM1, for the former situation, a 5σ excess can be achieved with 30 pb-1 and for the latter situation, it can...
متن کاملSearch for top in lepton + jets in DØ using a topological tag
We have searched for production of tt̄ pairs in pp̄ interactions at 1.8 TeV center-of-mass energy at the FNAL Tevatron collider. The search assumes standard model decay for top quark into W + b quark. We observe in e+ jets and μ+ jets final states a small, not statistically significant, excess above the background estimated by two different methods. The results presented are preliminary.
متن کاملSearching for Jets in Heavy Ion Collisions
Jet quenching measurements using leading particles and their correlations suffer from known biases, which can be removed via direct reconstruction of jets in central heavy ion collisions. In this talk, we discuss several modern jet reconstruction algorithms and background subtraction techniques that are appropriate to heavy ion collisions.
متن کاملSearch for heavy toplike quarks using lepton plus jets events in 1.96 TeV pp collisions.
We present the results of a search for pair production of a new heavy toplike quark t' decaying to a W boson and another quark using the Collider Detector at Fermilab II detector in run II of the Tevatron pp collider. Using a data sample corresponding to 760 pb(-1) of integrated luminosity, we fit the observed spectrum of total transverse energy and reconstructed t' quark mass to a combination ...
